Jack Falls is the third film (and comic) in a trilogy following the adventures of undercover British policeman Jack Adleth .

Each subsequent film of the trilogy gets better. In the first Jack Says. Jack wakes up tied to a chair in a warehouse without any memory. But he seems to have evoked the wrath of the Guv'nor, who lectures him about 'losing respect'. We then follow Jack to Paris and the mysterious Girl X who draws him and the woman he loves back into a world he's trying hard to avoid and to remember.

In 2009's Jack Said we are introduced to Nathan, a member of a criminal gang headed by the notorious Guvnor (and his psychotic daughter Natalie). He befriends fellow gang member Jack Adleth who, unbeknownst to Nathan, is an undercover police officer. Nathan harbours a secret too and when he steals from the gangster family and goes underground he trusts Jack to look after his sister Erin. Inheriting Nathans role in the gang, Jack must now walk a fine line between his duty as a police officer and what is required of him by Natalie. As he falls in love with Erin, the lines between his real and assumed identities begin to blur and his conscience and loyalty are put to the test. The tension builds till Jack must regroup and then mete out his own brand of justice, fuelled by revenge, on the streets of Amsterdam.

Preview: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

We got to see Werner Herzog's re-imagining of Abel Ferrara's brilliant Bad Lieutenant at the London Film Festival 09 and loved it.

These are the types roles that Nicholas Cage excels at, that combined with Werner Herzog's sense of quirky make this an interesting delight. Although Herzog says he has never seen the original Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans plays well against Abel Ferrara's original version.

Terence McDonagh is one of the few cops left in town after a post-Katrina exodus, which is enough to get him promoted. Put in charge of investigating the brutal murder of a family, his moral compass gets lost, and his drug-induced behaviour becomes ever more erratic. Is he out of his depth or out of his mind? Abel Ferrara's Bad Lieutenant was truly daring and brilliant, but it would be hard to argue that it was ever as much fun as Herzog's 're-imagining' turns out to be.

Freddy Frankham thought he was out of the gangland world – a retired boxer, Freddy now owns a successful “gentlemen’s” nightclub, but when a gang of Romanian drug dealers move into London, the stakes are too good to resist one last gamble. The gamble, of course, is a con. The deal is a lie. And the Romanians – are something else entirely … In the shadowed alleys and shuttered warehouses of London’s gangland, the key to all power is control – control of the streets, control of the clubs, control of the drugs and the women.

This is a truth which retired thug Freddy Frankham knows all too well. So when control of his little bit of the city is taken from him, in humiliating fashion, by Romanian émigré hard man Dante Livienko, Frankham knows he has limited time to redress the balance and resecure his kingdom, the Paradise Club, which Livienko has taken from Frankham in a deeply unfair boxing-match wager. In the boxing match, Dennis Christian (Freddy’s brother in law) is killed in the ring, and Freddy’s world comes apart. To make matters worse Michael's estranged father, Jim, arrives just in time to witness the scene. With a bounty on their heads Michael, Jim and Brenda flee to the mountains.

On the run with his eccentric father, who's convinced he'll die the next time he sleeps, and an increasingly morose Brenda, Michael is about to lose his mind. But as the net tightens and the helter-skelter chase reaches its climax he is forced to forgive his father and confront his true feelings for Brenda. With every hard man in Dublin on their trail it looks like Michael won't make it through the next 24 hours; however, The Grim Reaper and a gang of savage dogs have a funny way of intervening.


Jim Broadbent stars alongside Cillian Murphy and Jodie Whittaker as three unlikely fugitives on the run from gangster supremo, Perrier, played by Brendan Gleeson, in this fast paced comedy-thriller set in Dublin. With only 24 hours to escape certain death, the trio must beat the clock, stay awake, and above all, pay Perrier’s bounty.

Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day Screenplay

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is the much-anticipated sequel to the indie cult classic, The Boondock Saints.

The film is the continuation of writer/director Troy Duffy’s tough, stylized cutting edge saga of the MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery). The two have been in deep hiding with their father, Il Duce (Billy Connolly), in the quiet valleys of Ireland, far removed from their former vigilante lives. When word comes that a beloved priest has been killed by sinister forces from deep within the mob, the brothers return to Boston to mount a violent and bloody crusade to bring justice to those responsible. With a new partner in crime (Clifton Collins Jr., Star Trek) and a sexy FBI operative (Julie Benz, TV's “Dexter”) hot on their trail…the Saints are back!

Troy Duffy is something of a hero to me, hugely inspirational he wrote Boondock Saints while working as a doorman at a bar in LA. And it's only through his sheer balls out perseverance overcoming an insurmountable number of obstacles that Boondock Saints the film got made. Look he's no Saint himself but as far as tenacity goes the guy deserves a medal of sorts.

The inspiration for the screenplay happened one day when he came home from his job to find a dead woman being wheeled out of a drug dealer's apartment across the hall. Duffy then rented a computer and wrote the screenplay for The Boondock Saints based on his disgust at what he saw.

“I decided right there that out of sheer frustration and not being able to afford a psychologist, I was going to write this, think about it. People watching the news sometimes get so disgusted by what they see. Susan Smith drowning her kids... guys going into McDonald's, lighting up the whole place. You hear things that disgust you so much that even if you're Mother Teresa, there comes a breaking point. One day you're gonna watch the news and you're gonna say, 'Whoever did that despicable thing should pay with their life. You think — for maybe just a minute — that whoever did that should die, without any fuckin' jury. I was going to give everybody that sick fantasy. And tell it as truthfully as I could."

Duffy's rise and subsequent decline is painfully documented in the gonzo documentary "Overnight".

The Boondock Saints was a relatively small film that didn't follow the traditional crime formula that with some clever camera work, great editing and top notch cast made it a real pleasure to watch. I'm happy to see Duffy overcome the odds again and pull Boondock Saints 2 out the bag. Over in the states the original Boondock Saints is getting a special one night only 10th Anniversary screening on March 11th to accompany the release of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day on DVD.

It looks like All Saints Day has had limited screenings and will be released straight to DVD/Blu Ray, currently it doesn't have a release date for the UK. I'm sure it will make it's way over here. In the meantime you can find the the screenplay further below for your reading pleasure.

4.3.2.1 Sneak peek at Noel Clarke's heist film

Noel Clarke, last years BAFTA 'Rising Star' leaked an UNOFFICIAL trailer for his new heist film 4.3.2.1. This follows on from the success of his directorial debut, Adulthood the sequel to Kidulthood which he wrote and starred in.

Information is still sketchy at the moment while 4.3.2.1 is still in post production but early hints are that 4.3.2.1 is an "unconventional heist movie based on the four different lives of four different girls, all somehow linked to the robbery".

This early cut trailer looks pretty good and has a real "Go" feel to it. Which I loved! Seems that Clarke is heading towards international cross over stardom with 4.3.2.1 . Just look at the cast he pulled together on this.

Ghosts of Cite Soleil Charity Screening for Haiti

Revolver Entertainment are holding a charity screening of Wyclef Jean’s ‘Ghosts of Cite Soleil’ at the Electric Cinema on Friday 26th February in aid of Action Against Hunger’s emergency Haiti appeal.

The event will be hosted by Martine McCutcheon and Mica Paris and there will be a Q&A session with a film critic, an Aid specialist and a British documentary maker following the screening along with a charity auction.

Tickets are £15 (minimum donation) which includes a drink, popcorn and celebrity introduction, available via JustGiving

This ‘raw, painful documentary’ [The Observer] takes a gritty look at the reality of life in Haiti, produced by, and starring Haiti born musician Wyclef Jean.

Other celebrities confirmed to attend include Cerys Matthews, Charlie Brooks, Status Quo, Duran Duran, Boy George, Tazmin Outhwaite and Jenni Falconer.

The celebrity hosted screening will take place at 2pm on 26th February at The Electric Cinema in Notting Hill. The screening will be followed by a Q & A hosted by a Film Critic, an Aid Specialist, who has over 10 years of experience in humanitarian crisis zones, and a British Documentary Maker.

There will also be the opportunity to win over £5,000 worth of prizes, including an exclusive Kingdom of Heaven limited edition Ridley Scott framed and signed print, a bike, a one year Cineworld pass, dinner for two at the exclusive Electric Brasserie, celebrity worn designer clothes, and much more.

Kiss Me Deadly Screening + Review Competition

The PCC is screening the noir classic Kiss Me Deadly. Based on a Mickey Spillane pulp fiction. This classic was a source of inspiration for Quentin Tarantino. The scenes in Pulp Fiction of the glow of the contents of the never seen briefcase a direct homage to Kiss Me Deadly.

Kiss Me Deadly promises ‘red-blood kisses’ and ‘white-hot thrills’, a noir classic that has lost none of its power to shock and surprise. Private investigator Mike Hammer, a thuggish, macho anti-hero, is drawn into a bottomless pit of conspiracy and corruption after picking up a mysterious and beautiful hitch-hiker. Exposing the black soul of America in the atomic age, this is as hard-boiled as it gets.

The Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival Screening: 44 Inch Chest - Film on the Square

Ray Winstone and friends behaving very badly in this powerful drama of a wronged husband trying to regain his self-respect.


Anyone inclined to bemoan the shocking behaviour of young people would be advised to take a look at 44 Inch Chest, which features some spectacularly foul mouthed and habitually violent behaviour from a group of men well beyond any flush of youth. This debut feature by Malcolm Venville from a script by Sexy Beast writers Louis Mellis and David Scinto is a powerful drama of a wronged husband trying to regain his self-respect. Colin (Ray Winstone) is devastated when his wife announces she's leaving him for a younger man, and when we first meet him he is sprawled drunkenly amidst the wreckage of their final argument, as Nilsson's 'Without You' loops in the background. This virtuoso opening really sets the tone for what follows, aggressive and maudlin by turns. Colin's motley crew of old friends (John Hurt, Ian McShane, Tom Wilkinson, Stephen Dillane) rally to his aid, though their plot to kidnap the lover and push Colin into taking revenge is misguided in conception and inept in execution. A provocative and darkly funny study of masculinity at its most troubling, 44 Inch Chest gives the actors full rein to explore the male ego pushed to its limits, and this wonderful ensemble certainly rise to the task. - Sandra Hebron

The Saints are coming - Trailer for Troy Duffy's Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is an upcoming sequel to the 1999 cult film The Boondock Saints. The director of the original film, Troy Duffy, returned to film the sequel, which sees the return of Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as American brothers who act as vigilantes.
