John Hillcoat + The Road Preview

John Hillcoat returns to the Barbican with a Special Preview of his highly anticipated adaptation of Cormac MacCarthy's bestselling novel.
The Road follows Hillcoat’s critically acclaimed The Proposition - also scored by long-time collaborator Nick Cave. A chillingly credible rendering of a post-apocalyptic America, where the tender love between a father and his son provides the only hope in a ruined world.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Cormac McCarthy, a father (Viggo Mortensen) and son journey through a landscape cauterised by an irreversible disaster. Vigilant and fearful, they hide from those who have sacrificed their humanity to survive.

John Hillcoat directs this compelling vision of a nightmarish future, which reawakens us to the beauty of the world we still hold.
