QA & The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Curzon Preview

In the first screen instalment of the best-selling ‘Millennium’ trilogy of novels, investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Nyqvist) is hired by elderly industrialist Henrik Vanger to reopen a 40-year-old case of suspected murder within the family. Blomqvist and tough computer hacker Lisbeth (Rapace), a young woman whose own life is riddled with corrupt figures and a murky past, begin to connect a series of grotesque murders and unravel the appalling darkness that lurks in the Vanger family history. With the Hollywood slickness of fast-paced action thrillers, director Niels Arden has crafted an atmospheric detective story with a distinctive Nordic core.

Join Curzon for a preview screening of this highly anticipated adaptation, preceded by a special introduction by lead actress Noomi Rapace at Curzon Soho, Tuesday 9th March.

We got see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on it's UK Premiere at Film4's Frightfest in 2009. To give some context to the viewing I had not read any of Stieg Larsonn's books but had heard good reviews of the Millennium trilogy. Also FrightFest is typically associated with films that will frighten the trousers off one; whether it be by gore, shock or copious amounts of blood.

So I was expecting and prepared for a possible gore fest. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is none of this it is a twisty thriller with typical Scandinavian sensibilities by way of Se7en. Make no mistake you will be shocked and grimace mainly by concepts delivered off screen.

We both really enjoyed it and where engaged throughout the screening and are looking forward to seeing the further adventures of the Millennium team. Possibly worth noting that this may be a subtitled screening.
